The developers said that “TAIDE” is a language model that will provide enterprises, banks, hospitals, and government offices with a platform for performing tasks such as writing emails and meetings. Most importantly, this language model is not subject to China’s political influence.
“TAIDE” developers also stated that their final product will allow for the secure processing and storage of sensitive banking, healthcare and official information, especially since this information will be stored on Taiwanese servers.
Li Yujie, a professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at National Chiao Tung University and the convener of the “TAIDE” project, emphasized that Taiwan needs “a large-scale language model that is consistent with our values.” He emphasized that large-scale language patterns are embedded in a country’s knowledge system and, more importantly, its core values: freedom, democracy, and human rights.
