Taiwan: ‘Arrogant China uses military action to disrupt peace’ | NOW

Taiwanese Prime Minister Su Tseng-chang said on Sunday that China has “arrogantly” used military actions to disrupt regional peace and stability, reports Reuters. With this he responded to the military exercises of the Chinese army around his country.

In his speech to reporters in Taipei, Su called on Beijing not to flex his military muscles. He condemned “foreign enemies” who he believes are trying to undermine the morale of the Taiwanese people through cyber-attacks and misleading information campaigns.

Taiwan’s defense ministry said Sunday (local time) it had sent planes and ships to respond “appropriately” to Chinese military exercises around the island.

Multiple Chinese military ships, planes and drones continued joint exercises near Taiwan on Sunday morning. It simulated attacks on Taiwan and Taiwanese naval vessels, according to Taiwan’s Defense Ministry.
