Army Commander Taiwan, Hsu Yen-pu, with his delegation visited United States of America since last weekend, in the midst of increasing military provocation China.
Taiwan’s Defense Minister, Qiu Guozheng, confirmed to Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) that Yen-pu did make a visit to the US.
However, according to him, this visit is not a secret, but has been scheduled for a routine annual meeting.
This news received attention after local Taiwan media, United Daily News (UDN), reported that Yen-pu and his delegation left for the US last Saturday (9/10) to attend the 2021 US Army Association (AUSA) Annual Meeting.
A US military source told UDN that the delegation is also expected to meet with the leader of US Commandos, Charles Flynn, and the commander of US Indo-Pacific Command, John Christopher Aquilino.

This news came out shortly after Wall Street Journal reported that the US had been secretly training Taiwanese troops since 2020.

However, the US Ministry of Defense and Taiwan rejected a request for comment on the news.
This latest news comes amid increasing tensions between China and Taiwan in the past week.
Tensions began on Friday last week, when dozens of Chinese aircraft breached the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). Over the next few days, China continued to deploy dozens of aircraft to the ADIZ.
After that, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister, Joseph Wu, stated that his party was ready if it had to go to war with China.
Meanwhile, Tsai said Taiwan does not want a military confrontation with anyone, including China. However, Tsai vowed she would do whatever it takes to defend Taiwan’s sovereignty.
Over the weekend, Tsai and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged statements on sovereignty. China urges Taiwan to immediately reunite with them. However, Taiwan considers them a sovereign country.
