Tahiti vies for a spot in the Beach Soccer World Cup at the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup

Reading time : < 1 min.

From this Tuesday, August 22, until Sunday, August 26, Aorai Tini Hau Park will host the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup, an Oceanian qualifying tournament for the next Beach Soccer World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates, from February 15 to 25, 2024. Only one place is up for grabs for the next international competition!

To participate in its seventh World Cup, the Tiki Toa team will have to get rid of Fiji, Tonga and the Solomon Islands, the most capped countries in the competition since the creation of the OFC Beach Soccer Nations Cup in 2006.

In the early years, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu were the dominant forces on the Pacific sands, but as any beach soccer fan knows, Tahiti’s emergence as a regional powerhouse in 2011 changed that.

Tahiti won the last Oceanian competition in 2019. The Tahitian team has never won the World Cup but it can count on its record a 2nd place in 2015 and 2017 and a 4th place in 2013. That year, the international competition was organized in Tahiti and the Tiki Toa had conquered the hearts of the public by reaching the small final against Brazil; the islanders had pushed their opponents on penalties in a crazy game.

Tickets are on pre-sale at the headquarters of the Tahitian Football Federation (FTF) and directly at Aorai Tini Hau Park on match days.

Tarif place normale : 500 XPF

Tarif place VIP : 800 XPF

The Tahitian selection is coached by Teva Zaveroni.
