Malmö FF’s winger Taha Ali celebrated the SM gold so wildly with his teammates that he lost his voice already inside the dressing room right after the final whistle against Elfsborg. But most of all he wanted to spend time with his family. For the first time, his mother was on site in Malmö to see her son play in sky blue. Also, his brothers and aunt were at the game.
He is emotional when he talks about what it is like to share the joy of an Allsvenskan title with the family.
– It’s absolutely incredible. I have never experienced anything like this. I’ve only seen this on TV. I get… I don’t know… I get emotional. It’s unbelievable, says Ali.
The dribbler brought little brother Deeq, who turns 15 on Tuesday, into the locker room after the game. He brought him with him to the mixed zone – and was also in his company at the restaurant where MFF started its gold party.
– Family comes first, says Ali.
What is it like to stand here now with your arm around your little brother after winning SM gold?
– It is unbelievable. I have a responsibility as an older brother to lead by example. I want to teach him that first and foremost you have to be a good person. I hope he sees that I am a good big brother. Then that I play football and that he is proud of me… that is also incredible. But I want the number one thing is for him to see me as a big brother who is always there for him.
Ali is one of the MFF players rumored to be interesting to clubs abroad.
When Fotbollskanalen asks little brother Deeq which club he thinks will buy Taha, the answer is:
– It is difficult. He likes Messi, but I don’t think he will go there. Do you like Real Madrid?
Ali replies:
– I like Real.
Grant:
– I think Real would suit.
The little brother then predicts that Ali may leave MFF this winter.
– Maybe it will be something else, we’ll see actually.
Big brother quickly breaks in – with a big smile on his face – and says:
– I will continue to play in Malmö.
You should be interesting for bigger clubs?
– That’s the ambition in the end, but it’s not something I’m thinking about right now. I wanted to have a good season and now we have won SM gold. When that day comes, and Malmö gets something interesting that is both good for Malmö and me, then you have to take it from there.
