Taghi process: ‘No next of kin dares to be there’

In the lawsuit against the group around Ridouan Taghi, the Public Prosecution Service today paid attention to the relatives of the liquidated victims. No next of kin dared to be present in the courtroom.

Today the Public Prosecution Service started the indictment in the Marengo process. At the outset, prosecutors described the six victims in the case, some of whom were murdered in front of their families.

For example, one of them was taking his daughter to Koran lessons when he was shot dead in his car. Another was working with his child in the rabbit hutch in the yard when the bell rang and he was shot at close range.

The Public Prosecution Service believes that all victims were murdered on behalf of Ridouan Taghi. Most of them were involved in crime themselves. “The motive was usually revenge. Because there was talk, or to avoid talking.”

The hearing in the Marengo trial was again accompanied by many security measures. Nearly all the suspects were in the room next to Taghi, along with their lawyers. They had to be there for the court today.

“Normally the room would also be full of relatives, but their seats are empty today and will remain empty,” the prosecutor said. “Because no next of kin has dared to attend.”
