Stockton Shooting: 4 Killed, Suspect at Large

by Emma Walker – News Editor November 30, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Stockton, CA – A shooting at a family event in Stockton, California, late Saturday night left four people dead and at least ten others injured, sparking shock and outrage in the Central Valley community. The shooting occurred at a banquet hall, and authorities are investigating whether multiple shooters were involved.

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deputy Nina Brent stated that deputies responded to reports of gunfire and found victims both inside the hall and arriving at local hospitals. Two men walked into St.Joseph’s Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

“This is Thanksgiving weekend. This is when families come together,” said Stockton Mayor christina Fugazi. “Stockton is better than this.”

The shooting has deeply rattled the city of roughly 320,000 people, located approximately 40 miles south of Sacramento. While violence has recently decreased in Stockton – a July report from stocktonia indicated homicides fell 34% in the first six months of 2025 compared to the previous year – the city has a history of violent incidents. A serial killer terrorized the community between 2021 and 2022, and a drive-by shooting near a school in 2015 resulted in three deaths and four injuries.

Vice Mayor Jason Lee revealed in a Facebook statement that the shooting took place during a child’s birthday party.

authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Stockton Crime Stoppers hotline. The hotline paid out $44,000 in rewards following arrests last year.

The investigation is being led by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI. The state Office of Emergency Services is monitoring the situation and coordinating with local law enforcement, according to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office.

Title: Czech Job Market: Salary Gaps by Field and Region

by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor November 18, 2025
written by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

Engineers’ Paychecks Secure, But Entry-Level Salaries Vary Widely

Engineers entering⁤ the workforce can anticipate stable earnings, ⁤though initial salaries differ substantially depending on the sector-by as ⁣much as ⁣tens of⁣ thousands of Czech crowns. According to data analyzed by ManpowerGroup, understanding the context of “starting salary” is crucial, as it can ‍apply to⁢ roles ranging⁢ from junior‌ positions to executive leadership.

ManpowerGroup utilizes the first quartile of average earnings statistics published by the Ministry of Labor and Social‌ Affairs (ISPV) to define entry-level wages, ‍focusing on⁣ the bottom 25% of earners where ⁤junior roles typically‌ fall.

For the first half of 2025, ISPV ⁢data indicates⁢ the first quartile earnings ⁢are 49,809 crowns in data and interaction ⁣activities, 51,756 crowns in energy, 34,292 crowns in manufacturing, and 28,925 crowns ‌in construction. Accommodation and catering offer‍ the lowest entry-level earnings, around 22,533 crowns. The fastest year-on-year growth in ‌the⁢ first quartile was observed in construction, professional, scientific, and technical activities,⁢ and real estate.

Jiří Halbrštát, director of recruitment‌ and marketing at ManpowerGroup, explains that these discrepancies reflect industry structures. “Fields with high ⁤added value and strong international competition pay more early in ‍the‍ career, while sectors with‌ low margins naturally move close to the minimum wage,” he stated. He also noted that⁢ public⁣ sector starting amounts ⁢are persistent by tables, but final remuneration⁣ can vary due to additional payments or performance evaluations.

Meanwhile, a debate⁢ on ‍financial advice⁢ – ‌including‌ potential conflicts of interest with commission-based advisors‌ and associated fees – is scheduled to feature Petr Borkovec (Partners), investment ⁣blogger Lukáš Nádvorník, and autonomous financial advisor Michala Janatová.

Hollywood Burbank Airport Flights Delayed Due to Shutdown

by Emma Walker – News Editor October 7, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Burbank Airport Experiences Disruptions as⁤ Air Traffic Control Tower Goes‌ Unstaffed During Government shutdown

Hollywood Burbank Airport experienced important flight delays and cancellations Monday‌ due to an unstaffed air traffic control tower, a outcome ⁤of the ongoing government‌ shutdown stemming⁣ from the impasse between Democrats and Republicans. ‍The tower was without personnel ⁤from⁢ 4:15 p.m. to 10 p.m.,according to FAA spokesperson Kristen Alsop.

The staffing ⁤shortage ⁢is occurring as air traffic controllers⁤ work without pay during the shutdown. Transportation secretary Sean Duffy reported a slight increase in air traffic control workers calling in‍ sick.As of 5 p.m.,outgoing flights at the airport were delayed‍ by an average of⁢ two ⁣hours and 31 minutes, with⁢ the longest delay reaching three ⁢hours⁢ and 55 minutes, attributed to both staffing shortages and ongoing‌ runway construction. By 6:30 p.m., the airport reported 25 arrival delays, 17 departure delays, ⁢seven arrival cancellations, and five departure cancellations, ⁢as stated by airport spokesperson Mike Christensen.

Despite the unmanned tower, air traffic flow was ⁤maintained by Southern ⁢California TRACON, a San Diego-based FAA institution ⁢utilizing radar technology to manage⁣ airspace around numerous Southern California ‍airports.

California Governor Gavin Newsom publicly‌ criticized President‌ trump,‌ stating via X (formerly Twitter), ⁤”Thanks, @realDonaldTrump! Burbank Airport has ZERO air traffic controllers from 4:15pm to 10pm today because‌ of‍ YOUR government shutdown.”

The‌ National Air traffic ‌Controllers Assn. (NATCA) ⁤highlighted the situation as evidence of the fragility of the aviation system given a pre-existing national shortage of air traffic controllers. The union emphasized the urgent need to accelerate training and hiring, ⁢noting that nearly 11,000 controllers are currently working without pay, many working extended shifts – up to ⁢six days a week with 10-hour days.‌ NATCA‍ stated it is indeed collaborating with the ⁤FAA to minimize disruptions and advocate for increased hiring.

The FAA confirmed that delays⁣ were also occurring ‍at other airports nationwide, including Newark Liberty International Airport, Denver International Airport, and Harry Reid International Airport in ‌las Vegas. Monday marked the sixth day of the government‌ shutdown, impacting‍ hundreds‍ of thousands of federal employees through furloughs or unpaid work, and⁣ leading⁣ to suspensions or ‌reductions in agency⁢ operations.
