Tadic in tears after missing the European Championship with Serbia: ‘No idea where it went wrong’ | NOW

Dusan Tadic is devastated that he grabbed a ticket for the European Championship with Serbia on Thursday. The captain of Ajax went down with his country after penalties in the all-deciding play-off against Scotland.

The Serbs fell behind and forced an extension in the last minute thanks to a goal by Luka Jovic, in which no goal was scored. In the penalty series, Aleksandar Mitrovic was the only one to miss.

“I have no idea where it went wrong. We may not have enforced it very much. It is difficult to talk about this,” said a clearly moved Tadic after the Belgrade match.

“Scotland didn’t surprise us, because we knew how they would play. We didn’t start well and did come back, but it should have been much better. After the equalizer we got the ghost, but it was not to be.”

The 31-year-old Tadic could have qualified for a final tournament with Serbia for the second time in his career. In 2018 he was there with his country at the World Cup, where the group stage was not survived.

In addition to Scotland, North Macedonia, Hungary and Slovakia qualified for the European Championship. The North Macedonians end up in the group of the Dutch national team.
