Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) fell some 160 kilometers from the finish in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The big Slovenian favorite was then expected by his entire UAE Team Emirates team, but he gave up a few moments later. Pogacar was transported by the team to ZOL Genk with a wrist injury, on which he was successfully operated on.
After undergoing a scan at the ZOL, it turned out that his fall had resulted in fractures of the scaphoid and lunate, two carpal bones located in the wrist joint. This Sunday afternoon, Professor Joris Duerinckx operated on Pogacar’s left hand.

Sunday evening, around 7:30 p.m., Pogacar was allowed to leave the hospital.
