Tacotarian Launches Plant-Based Taco Fillings for Home Consumption

Tacotarian takes the taco out of the taqueria and takes it home.

The popular vegan taqueria, with four locations in its native Las Vegas and one in San Diego, introduced a line of plant-based taco fillings called Tacotarian at Home. Packaged fillings are shelf stable, non-GMO, and easy to heat. The first two styles for the first time are barbacoa de jaca and birria de jaca made by Beyond Meat.

Customer demand, especially from Tacotarian fans who don’t live near a restaurant, has brought it into the retail market.

“As we continue to expand, we’re excited to meet people where they are and introduce them to a retail space that allows them to access our plant-based offerings wherever they are,” said Kristin Corral, co-founder of Tacotarian and Tacotarian at Home.

“We’re especially proud of our Birria con Beyond, as it’s one of the most popular options at all of our locations,” said Regina Simmons, another co-founder of the taqueria and filling line.

Online retail started at eattacotarian.com/retail. Regarding physical sales: “We are in discussions with several vendors, but we have not named them yet,” Corrall said.

Kristen and Carlos Corral and Regina and Dan Simmons opened the first Tacotarian in August 2018. Tacotarian was named Best Vegan Taqueria at the 2023 Veggies Awards presented by VegNews, the media brand covering plant-based restaurants and the food industry.
