Taboo: the construction of a brand new gyneco-obstetrical unit consolidates the health offer for the mother-child couple

A gyneco-obstetrician unit, built at the Tabou general hospital, will soon be delivered to the population. “Pregnant women will now be evacuated to the most distant health centers, which will put an end to the difficulties linked to transport costs and physical fatigue,” rejoices Lazare Bahonto.

The infrastructure has a capacity of 14 gyneco-obstetric beds. This service mainly consists of 3 delivery rooms, an operating room, 4 birth preparation beds, 4 consultation rooms, an ultrasound room and 4 neonatal incubators.

The block will also be equipped with an incinerator building with a waste collection area, an energy block and a generator each with a room.

The construction of this establishment reinforces the government’s commitment to building an efficient health system, in order to meet the needs of patients.

This project is also part of the program to improve emergency neonatal obstetric care aimed at facilitating care for the mother-child couple.

“This health structure will greatly offer better availability of services in order to allow thousands of women and young children to benefit from very high quality care,” underlines Kouassi ahou Hortense.

“The opening of the new gyneco-obstetric center will aim to bring health services closer to the population and reduce maternal, neonatal and infant mortality,” says Serges Apollinaire Gnakouri.

The implementation cost is estimated at 1.4 billion FCFA.
