Data for tablet sales for the second quarter of 2021 are unveiled by the firm IDC and Apple is once again ahead of the others with its various iPads. But the progression from one year to the next is slight.
Apple sold 12.9 million iPads in the second quarter of 2021, up from 12.5 million copies a year earlier. The increase is only 3.5%. The group is in any case first with a market share of 31.9%. This is down slightly compared to last year when it was 32.1%.
Samsung follows with 8 million sales, up 13.3%, and a market share of 19.6%. Lenovo comes in third place with 4.7 million sales, an increase of 64.5%. Its market share stands at 11.6%. Amazon and its Kindle tablets are fourth with 4.3 million sales, up 20.3%, and a market share of 10.7%. Honor closes the top 5 with 2.1 million sales, down 53.7%. Its market share is 5.1%. IDC specifies: “Since Huawei sold its Honor business, data for Huawei in the top row excludes Honor volume for the second quarter of 2020 and 2021”.
On arrival, all manufacturers sold 40.5 million tablets, up 4.2%.
