Bat the 23rd RIHA Open in Wr. Neudorf, there were five active participants from SG St. Veit/Hainfeld, but Tobias Wagner from TTV Traisen also competed in the hobby class (up to 500 ranking points) and in the competition up to 900 points.
Anna Lena Windischberger also showed at the RIHA Open that she is in really good shape. The 13-year-old was able to sensationally win the 1300 competition. In the final, she gave Elias Welzel (SU Mistelbach) no chance in a 3-1 win. She also made it to the final in the 900 competition. But against Marcel Smerecinski she ran out of steam late in the evening after 15 matches that day. They clearly lost the final 0-3 with little resistance.
In the 900 competition, Wagner was only eliminated in the quarterfinals against the eventual winner Marcel Smerecinski from ASKÖ Ybbs. In the hobby competition, Lilienfelder was able to impressively win his group without losing a set; he was only stopped by Nisvet Keserovic in the semi-finals. Wagner was able to achieve a great third place. Martin Veith also played the 900 competition. He came second in the group and was promoted to the knockout phase, but then he cut his teeth in the first match against Alex Schantl. In the 1100 competition he came third in the group and narrowly missed out on making it to the final round.
Liliane Kielar with her brother Christoph and Gerald Hammer took part in the hobby competition. Although all three tried very hard, none of them were able to reach the knockout stages that day. “Nevertheless, I have to congratulate all of our district athletes on their achievements,” explains junior coach Jürgen Hickelsberger.
