It was a weekend full of matches and emotions for the Table Tennis Nocera. Once the championships have been archived, the Rossoneri club will take part in the various tournaments that are scheduled between now and the end of June. Let’s start talking about the two days of tennis starting from Saturday 4 May where, a San Nicola La Strada, the regional championships of the CSI (Italian Sports Center) took place. There were eight tennis players from Tt Nocera who showed up at the starting line where, among others, the debuts of Giovanni Sellitto e Domenico Salsano. At the end of the long day, two gold medals came from the Seniores and Juniores categories.
In the Seniors, a real showman Andrea Massinelli who literally dominated the group from the initial phase until the final won against Fabio Ferrara from the Tt Aldo Pappalardo. The other gold medal was taken home by Lorenzo Iovine in the Junior category. The young athlete from Nocera Superiore also defeated in the semi-final, in the family derby, Giuseppe Caso. The latter instead took home a bronze medal. And still speaking of third place, the other three bronze medals came in the Veterans A, Veterans B and Adult Male categories and were won respectively by captain Rosario BilliardoDomenico Salsano and Mario Caso. The latter won the other family derby of the day by beating Giovanni Sellitto in the fifth set. However, Giancarmine Villani was unlucky and went out in the group stage after a decidedly difficult grouping.
Also at the Caserta table tennis hall, the day after Sunday 5 May, there was the fifth category regional championship organized by Fitet. Four tennis players from Noce took part in the tournament. In men’s doubles Cristian Cuofano e Raffaele D’Avino they overcame a round in the fifth set before surrendering in the round of 16 against Luigi Arcopinto e Giuseppe Iacò. However, the reigning sixth category doubles champions Lorenzo Iovine and Giuseppe Caso exited in the first round. Finally, the latter two also took part in the singles as absolute debutants. Caso won only one match without being able to get through the group, although there remains some regret for the opening match lost in the fifth set against Fabio Aniello. Iovine did well as he topped his group as second thanks to his easy victory against Matteo Nemolato and thanks above all to the comeback victory in the fifth set after a very close match against them Antonio Zannella. The 15-year-old then lost in the first elimination round in four sets against Francesco De Dominicis. We return to the field next week in the San Nicola La Strada Open where the Rossoneri team will present themselves in the various categories with the aim of continuing to grow and obtaining increasingly important results.
