Table tennis – Bundesliga is getting smaller – sport

The men’s Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) will be smaller in the coming season. After the TTC Neu-Ulm announced last week that they were leaving the TTBL after a dispute with the league about contractual penalties against Truls Moregardh and Lin Yun-ju, the sovereign second division table leader TTC OE Bad Homburg has now also declared the waiver a TTBL license. There are economic reasons for that. The club explained that the higher costs and requirements could “not be met” at the moment, but wanted to continue working for a later return to the TTBL. Cedric Meissner (1. FC Saarbrücken) and Rares Sipos will leave the club. It is therefore clear that 1. FSV Mainz 05, who are at the bottom of the TTBL, do not have to be relegated. As the TTBL confirmed when asked, eleven current TTBL teams – all except Neu-Ulm – have applied for a license for the coming season, and there were no other applicants. However, Mainz loses its top player Yuto Muramatsu, who will also move to Saarbrücken for the new season.
