“T-Mobile Launches Digital Identity Verification via Bank iD for its e-Shop Customers in Czech Market”

T-Mobile launched digital identity verification via Bank iD in its e-shop. Customers can thus order and set up a flat rate without physically visiting a store or having to show their identity card to the courier when the SIM card is delivered. Complete verification via Bank iD is offered by T-Mobile as the first mobile operator on the Czech market.

It is possible to arrange mobile voice and data tariffs completely online, i.e. activate a new phone number, including purchasing a phone on installments or transferring a number from a competitor. When using an electronic SIM card, the so-called eSIM, for example, the activation of a new service will be shortened from today’s several days to a few minutes.

In the future, the transition from prepaid to flat-rate

Bank identity, abbreviated as Bank iD, already serves as a basic tool for the digitization of state administration. It enables digital identity verification not only when communicating with the authorities, but also offers wide possibilities of use in the private sector. Over 2.7 million people have already used the service, which represents more than a third of the adult population.

T-Mobile wants to gradually expand the possibilities of using the Bank iD service. In the near future, for example, there should be an online transition from an anonymous prepaid service to a registered flat-rate service. “We want our customers to be able to do as much as possible from home, and the banking identity service will enable us to do that,” says T-Mobile digital services manager Eva Noraová. You can find more information about using Bank iD in the T-Mobil e-shop on the operator’s website.
