The T-Mobile operator launched on the first day of November commercial operation of its 5G network. Like in O2 a at Vodafone so far it is a so-called non-standalone 5G, which uses 4G frequencies.
Operator promises download speeds of up to 500 Mbit / s, in practice, however, the speeds will certainly be lower (but it depends on the user’s distance from the transmitter, cell load and other factors).
To connect, users need a phone that supports 5G technology, an LTE-compatible SIM card and any T-Mobile tariff that includes data (5G should also work on prepaid Twist cards). There are no additional fees for using 5G yet. 5G does not work in roaming traffic.
So far, T-Mobile has covered the part of Brno and Prague with the 5G signal (including the section of seven Prague metro stations: Roztyly, Chodov, Háje, Kačerov, Budějovická, Pankrác and the Prague Uprising). By the end of the year, the operator is expected to cover about a quarter of the population of Prague and Brno.
