Customers of telecom company T-Mobile receive text messages in which they are welcomed abroad, while they are simply in the Netherlands. “Welcome to Belgium. (…) Want to know more about your usage in this country? Contact your telecom operator,” the message reads. Customers are also welcomed in Finland, Bulgaria and Germany, among others.
According to T-Mobile, these are old welcome messages and customers can simply ignore the text messages. “They don’t have to worry, although we understand that it can be confusing,” said a spokesperson.
The wrong text messages are the result of network maintenance. but the exact cause is still being sought. The company does not know when the problem will be fixed or how many customers have received the messages so far. Customers of Simpel, Ben and Tele2, who fall under T-Mobile, also receive the text messages.
