In this regard, he added that the prominent presence of the Hungarian financial institution creates the possibility for the safe operation of other Hungarian companies in Moldova, where a significant part of Hungarian exports are pharmaceutical products and animal feed.
Finally, the minister stated that the government has always supported and will continue to support the integration efforts of the European Union candidate Moldova, as the country’s accession would help strengthen the community, which has dramatically lost its competitiveness.
He called it important that when a decision has to be made this year about which countries to start the real accession negotiations with, then the affected states should be evaluated separately, so that none of them can be “trapped”.
“In other words, we do not support that Moldova’s accession process depends on the pace at which Ukraine can advance in the integration process. Each country should be considered individually, each country’s performance should be evaluated individually, and we think that Moldova is making good progress in the European integration process,” he said.
He also stated that since Moldova faces significant challenges in terms of logistics, transport and trade due to the war in Ukraine, Hungary supports the country’s full EU customs exemption until the end of the armed conflict.
