Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said he visited Minsk to urge “Belarusian partners” not to take steps to continue the war or its geographical expansion.
Szijjarto announced this on February 17, reports “European truth” with reference to Hungarian Hirlap.
Answering a press question about his visit to Minsk on Monday, Szijjártó said he had delivered a message about the establishment of a ceasefire and the start of peace talks.
“I told my Belarusian partners about this and asked them, as we ask all members of the international community, not to take any militant steps, no steps that could lead to the continuation of the war or, if necessary, to the geographical expansion of the war,” he stressed.
Szijjarto also denies that he allegedly negotiated with the Russians in Minsk.
“I see that there is a certain amount of fantasy in the press, and I see that there is fanaticism regarding the Flightradar website, and in principle there are no problems with this, but I am an honest person, if I want to negotiate with the Russians, I will go to Moscow,” he said.
“If I want to negotiate with the Russians, I will go to Moscow and report it. I don’t need to negotiate with the Russians in Minsk hiding. Neither I nor any of the members of my delegation negotiated with anyone other than the Belarusian interlocutors “, Szijjarto added.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto visited Minsk on 13 February.
It was the first visit of a European official of this level to Minsk in a very long period.
