Sywert van Lienden kicked out of the board of his foundation by a judge

The Public Prosecution Service believes that the directors have misused their foundation to secure assignments for their commercial company. The court appoints a temporary interim board, which will then investigate whether Van Lienden and his co-directors Bernd Damme and Camille van Gestel can be held liable for the damage.

The latter has already resigned from the board of his own accord.

Repay to the foundation

Early in the corona crisis, Van Lienden concluded the controversial face mask deal with the Ministry of Health. He pretended that he was supplying the masks without making a profit himself. He would act in the interest of the country. But later it turned out that Van Lienden and his associates had secretly set up a separate BV.

The deal involved a total of 100 million euros. After deduction of all costs, Van Lienden rewarded himself with 9 million euros. His partners both received 5 million euros.

The Public Prosecution Service now hopes to recover that profit from the BV to the foundation. “It is possible that in this way the money that has flowed to the detriment of the foundation in the separate BV will have to be repaid to the foundation,” according to the Public Prosecution Service.

no charity

In March, the Public Prosecution Service started a criminal investigation following a report from Randstad. The staffing company made personnel available to the Auxiliary Forces Alliance free of charge because it was believed to be for charity.

In the end, the mouth caps were not used, because the government already had enough. In addition, there were concerns about the poor quality.
