The remake version of the masterpiece ‘System Shock’, which paid attention to the dangers of AI about 30 years ahead of the time when the possibility of AI is attracting attention, will be released on the PC platform on May 30th.
Today (15th), Playon’s Prime Matter revealed information on the release date of the remake version of the sci-fi horror adventure game ‘System Shock’ being developed by Night Dive Studio.
The original System Shock, released in 1994, was well received as a representative work of ‘immersive sim’ game. Nightdive Studio, the developer of the remake version, introduced that the most important point of this project is to revive all the charms and characteristics that could be felt in the original game through a modern game model. Players will be able to experience the masterpiece released almost 30 years ago with new HD visuals, convenient controls, a clean interface, and new sound.
In this new work, the player controls the main character, a hacker, against the background of the isolated space station ‘Citadel’. The Citadel is occupied by ‘SHODAN’, a highly developed psychopathic AI that massacres humans, and players must uncover the secrets of SHODAN and survive. As it is a remake version that has returned after about 30 years, it is characterized by new enemy types, combat methods, and hacking systems that have not been seen in previous works.
The play build of the System Shock remake version was introduced once through the last Gamescom. At the time, the demonstration build left the player without any indication, giving the impression of being a somewhat ‘unfriendly game’. Rather than reorganizing to suit the current generation, the focus is on reconstructing the classics. There is no way to immediately check how the impression of the demo build has changed from the official build, but now it is expected to be a game with a retro-like future sensibility, dystopian fear, and a strange charm that comes from a classic sense of control.
The Korean version of System Shock Remake will be released on May 30 through Steam and Epic Games platforms. Pre-orders for the extended version are currently being sold at each store, and after the PC version, it will also be released on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Exact release date information for the console version has not yet been revealed.
