The new meeting of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA was a catalyst for the proposal that will be submitted to the Central Committee for a vote. The Polakis proposal…
After Polakis’ detailed proposal for speeding up procedures with a new timetable entered the conversation, it was certain that extra dust would be raised. The majority of the PG had already approved for elections on 24/11 and 1/12, but the insistence of the MP of Chania to readjust the original plan brought consultations from scratch.
In his own way, P. Polakis tried to convince of the need to launch the developments as soon as possible. According to him, the president should have been elected no later than November 10 – instead of December 1. In other words, to gain a valuable 20 days of reconstruction.
Otherwise, as he said, SYRIZA is threatened with even greater deterioration due to the daily counter-complaints. Like that of Theodora Tzakris with Yiannis Ragousis.
…and the objections
His attempt, of course, met resistance from those who were in favor of more expanded processes, with the development of political positions and pre-conference dialogue. According to the supporters of this view, only so it will be possible to avoid last year’s mistakes with fast track methods who brought St. Kasselakis in leadership.
It was also the position that ultimately prevailed among the members of the PG. So, with an enlarged majority, the primary proposal for an extraordinary congress on November 1-3 and elections on November 24 and December 1 was maintained.
The delicate balances in the Central Committee
However, since the Central Committee is the one that approves or rejects, it will be of great interest to shape the correlations next Saturday. In any case, the Kasselaki bloc, with whatever power it has left within the body, prefers a more direct appeal to the polls.
His goal is to capitalize on the favorable momentum that his environment believes has been created. So it is not at all certain that the 163-120 will be maintained in the higher body, as it was formed, on the motion of censure, which was supported by the Polaki wing.
The right to participate in the meeting will only exist for life, but if a vote is required, the recent procedure of telephone calls will be followed.
The conditions of the presidential candidates
Meanwhile, as confirmed by the press representative, Pausanias Papageorgiou, after the end of the work of the PG, “we are proceeding with the criteria that applied a year ago”. So no additional conditions were imposed beyond those in force for the filing of nominations. In this case, only 30 signatures from members of the Central Committee are required, as is the commitment of the candidates to harmonize with the principles, values and statutes of the faction.
This parameter was for days the subject of debate and constant debate. That is to say, if conditions should be decided such as where you owe money, a clean criminal record, borrowing, etc. This whole effort was interpreted by certain circles as an attempt to prevent the candidacy (and potential re-election) of Kasselakis.
The outburst of Olga Gerovasilis

However, due to the leaks that were released, Olga Gerovasili suddenly left the meeting and addressed the journalists. She wanted to deny in every direction that she raised the question of where she was from again.
He called them “fabricated and false leaks”, asking the representatives of the press not to adopt anything other than the party’s official positions. “What you’re getting is completely fabricated and false,” he argued, insisting that he was only asking if there was going to be a discussion about criteria.
