“The base is asking for speed, transparency and a guarantee that we will not have a vacuum of power and any kind of legal and financial representation, when all the other parliamentary parties will stand in front of us with clear leadership” emphasized Theodora Tzakri during her speech to the Central Committee of SYRIZA, essentially expressing the Kasselakis side.
He suggested:
- October 5-6 convening of an extraordinary conference with two issues: The approval of the text of the political decision and the presentation of the signatures of support for each candidacy, the speeches of the presidential candidates and their proclamation.
- The holding of the election of the president and Central Committee on Sunday, November 3 and, if a second round for the election of the president is necessary, it should be held on Saturday, November 9 (as the Athens Marathon is held on November 10).
The Polakis proposal
To a large extent, the above proposal coincides with what Pavlos Polakis has proposed for days at the Political Secretariat. The Cretan MP maintains that the nominations must be submitted by September 29, the Congress should be held on October 5 and the elections should be held on November 3. If a second round is needed, it should take place on November 10.

The proposal of the Political Secretariat
The recommendation of the Political Secretariat to the Central Committee is to hold the extraordinary conference from November 1 to 3, with delegates elected on October 20.
He also decided that the optimal date for elections is November 24 and if a second round is needed, it should take place a week later, on December 1.
On the first Sunday, in a separate ballot box, the new Central Committee will be elected by region.
The proposal of the Political Secretariat seems to be supported by the “group of 87”, with the exception that the Central Committee be elected after the election of the president…
