These are the heads of the Environment and Energy M. Zambaras, Interiors G. Poulos, Infrastructure & Transport H. Mamoulakis, Rural Development & Food, V. Kokkalis and Climate Crisis & Civil Protection S. Kedikoglou.
“We will not allow the privatization of water management in Thessaly, which is the beginning of the general privatization of water,” they emphasize, among other things.
The joint statement of the heads of departments:
“The public good of water cannot be gifted to private individuals.
The government of ND with a colonial type model, in the bill that is currently in consultation, plans to legislate the concession of the management of the waters of Thessaly to private individuals, without any consultation with the competent scientific and institutional bodies!
The Ministry of Environment and Energy creates a public limited company that will operate on private criteria and “endows” it, in addition, with capital and staff.
The Mitsotakis government, with a study of dubious scientific documentation of the Dutch company, assigns all the responsibilities from the public to a Public Company.
Instead of strengthening the services of the Ministry of the Interior, the Region, the TOEB/GOEB, instead of proceeding to a serious and holistic planning and consultation with all the local and scientific bodies involved, it insists on the extreme neoliberal plans of unconditional privatization.
Together with the Local Government, the workers at TOEB and GOEB, the agricultural agencies, we will not allow the privatization of water management in Thessaly, which is the beginning of the general privatization of water.”
