The desperate situation in which the party media of SYRIZA, i.e. “Avgi“, avgi.gr and the “Sto Kokkino” radio stations are found, is revealed in a dramatic way by the letter of the director of Left Media, Konstantinos Nikoltsios, to the heads of party.
Mr. Nikoltsios talks about unpaid salaries, the risk of joining Teiresias, checks that are stamped and suppliers that do not give any more leeway.
Also, the letter of Mr. Nikoltsiou reveals that there are discussions with a private person for the sale of the “Sto Kokkino” radio station, while there is no interest in the “Avgi” newspaper.

It concerns: The survival of the Party’s Media, namely the radio stations and the newspaper “i Avgi”, which are financially on the edge of the cliff.
Comrades and comrades!
1. The financial situation in the Media Group of the Party is tragic. Creditors do not give other time frames. The workers have almost two months to be paid and are on strike.
2. The donations from the friends and members of the party are not enough, not even, to pay the office rents.
3. The checks to suppliers of the Kasselaki period began to be stamped. (I am in immediate danger of falling under, if I have not already fallen under – the regime of TEIRESIA).
4. The printing house and the suppliers of the journalistic paper have no scope for other credit. It is not certain that we will be able to print the Sunday paper.
5, The workers have informed me that they will start successive strikes, after the hearing of the case at SEPE tomorrow, if an amount of the accrued wages is not paid.
6. The arrangements of the debts to the insurance funds were lost
7. After the resignation of the Management and Administration Group of Mr. Lefteris Arvanitis, despite any promises made by the leadership of the Party, i.e. Stefanos Kasselakis, a new one was never appointed.
8. At no time did the leadership of the Party deal with the well-known financial situation of the Party Media, despite and against my suggestions, from October 2023 onwards, except of course the suggestions for hiring journalists.
9. As is known, the leadership of Stefanos Kasselakis proceeded to implement the decision to suspend the daily edition of Avgi, without having secured the necessary amount for the compensation of the redundant staff, as a result of which they have remained hostage to our irresponsibility for months. despite the relevant promises made publicly by the then President of the Party. The consequence of this act, moreover, is to increase, with each passing month, the financial obligations towards the employees.
10. Out of party patriotism, I took over for a year and handle the Administration and Management of the Party’s Media. Unfortunately I can no longer continue, you know their reasons. You don’t have to be deaf anymore.
11. The efforts I made to find allies and financiers to save the party media, especially the radio stations, are not paying off as we expected. There was no interest for Avgi and the website avgi.g.
12. Discussions about the lease, from a well-known Audio and Video company, of the rooms have progressed quite a bit.
However, the interested company sets as a condition that after the end of the lease, 100% of the shares of “left Media AE” should be transferred to it, for an agreed consideration, minus the amount that the company will spend directly , for the repayment of obligations up to the amount of 1,500,000 euros. (debts to insurance funds, tax authorities, suppliers, fees, etc.). In this way, the party is exempted from financing the r/s.
The hiring company undertakes the obligation to pay the salary of the remaining staff (15-16 journalists) for the production of the seven (7) hour daily news program on our behalf and under our responsibility.
13. Since I imagine that it is difficult to make such a decision, weighing only the political cost and not the financial one, the necessary amount should be sought in any case to continue their operation until the new leadership decides on it.
14. Finally, in a different case, their non-functioning (due to strikes or work stoppages by the employees) will lead to their obsolescence and destruction. The party, whatever leadership it ends up with, will shoulder, whether it likes it or not, the huge debts towards the workers and the suppliers.
