The situation in SYRIZA is so derailed that not even “between cheese and pear” or just alcohol, in a well-known bar-restaurant of Pagratio, is going to find a point of contact for the main conflicting sides. Let it be a rudimentary first-level consultation on issues of mutual concern shortly before the start of the three-day conference (November 8, 18:30).
Yes, on Wednesday night, Stefanos Kasselakis co-existed in the same place with first-class executives of 87 and sat at their table, discussing politics. But on the other hand, absolutely nothing affects the aggressive tactics on both sides, which with… full throttle will further fuel the fire that is already burning.
Each side tried to manage the meeting and the conversation that followed in its own communicative way. Did the tones soar or not? Did Christos Spirtzis slam his hand on the table or not when he erupted over the accusations of “black funds” in SYRIZA?
Kasselakis: “Surreal scene, they have been falsified enough”
St. Kasselakis confirmed, speaking to Real FM, that he was the one who tried to remove the inevitable embarrassment from the atmosphere. “What’s going on here, faction?” he asked the group vitriolically, before sitting down with Olga Gerovasilis, Alekos Flambouraris, Giorgos Vassiliadis, Katerina Notopoulou, Stergios Kalpakis and Zoi Karkoulias.
But he denied that an episode was threatened. “These are provocations, what has been written has been falsified enough. It was a perfectly civilized discussion and where there was intense dialogue it was well-intentioned,” he argued, describing the scene as “a little surreal.”
“We told you – We don’t file lawsuits – You haven’t managed a stand”
Sources of the 87 stood at Al’s reminder. Flabourari to the former president that “I told you and you didn’t listen to us”. As also in the sentence of Cat. Notopoulou that “we do not file lawsuits, we resolve issues politically” in response to why he did not officially report him for bowling.
Or in the analogy of Chr. Spirtzis that “you have not even managed a stand. Those of us who have, let us know better.” And in the invitation to Olga Gerovasilis to speak in person.
“Proprietary perception of SYRIZA”
St. Kasselakis of course chose another point of the dialogue, preferring, as he said, not to enter into “gossip.” He preferred to say about what “really surprised me” and, according to him, was about the phrase of one of these executives that “we accepted” his election to the presidency last year.
“I didn’t understand, were you doing us a favor?” he confessed that he answered himself, arguing that “this exactly shows the proprietary perception they have of the entire area of the Left and especially of SYRIZA. That they are the ones who brought the party to the government and that we owe them our gratitude and that today they have the social appeal. Such arrogance.”
What will happen to the delegates?
In general, the distance between the two major blocs was and remains chaotic. Not a trace of a truce is visible on the horizon, as was confirmed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Political Secretariat, with the decision (apart from the political part) of which Tzakri, Douro, Skorini, Rigas and Teligioridou differed.
After all, the member of parliament Pellas, who was invited to MEGA in the morning, accused Olga Gerovasili that “in a threatening and ironic way she told me that I should not have a place in the General Assembly and she will not invite me to the next General Assembly”.
Nothing now holds back the all-out conflict during the conference. Even if it was attempted, as argued by Ms. Tzakri, to avoid the lifelong participation of the delegates.
“Hence the booze vinegars, and the strict face control, etc. These people have angered the world and fear political disapproval. They don’t even have a majority, because if they did they would announce the results. They are trying to remove the delegates. In a substitute way, they try to cut delegates, this is unethical,” he said in this regard.
“There can no longer be any trust in an unalterable digital voting result”
Exactly on the same line was the leak that took place at noon on Thursday from the “headquarters” of Taurus.
Sources close to Stefanos Kasselakis expressed the question of what has happened to the elected delegates, as “five days after the congress elections and a few hours before the start of the conference, even the delegates themselves (some live hundreds of kilometers away) do not know the lists”.
“Did they get them? Did they accept them? How and when will they attend tomorrow?’ they wondered.
And they automatically answered “we thought! We, public opinion and the majority of elected congressmen do not know, because he supports Stefanos Kasselakis”.
On the contrary, they emphasized that “some “elected” delegates know and are informed separately, as can be seen in a photo from their digital meeting that reached our hands.”
“The message is revealing, regarding a collection of emails and codes that need to be sent urgently to… headquarters!” the Taurus circles added, pointing out that “they are organizing digital votes, in which their ‘chosen’ delegates will have emails, codes, full information, while the majority of delegates will come without knowing how to vote!”
According to the same people “in the face of the looming digital fraud business, there is one answer: A vote on the key issues and a regular, legal count.”
And this is because “there can no longer be any trust for an unalterable result of digital voting”, at a time when “‘at the headquarters’ they have not been able to produce election results for five days while at the same time they are making such “digital” methods”
“Voting and democracy are the last refuge of seriousness and validity” they interpreted.
“SYRIZA is under occupation”
All this before Stefanos Kasselakis, on the occasion of the information cited by his team, called for a mass gathering outside Gazi Live.
“SYRIZA is under occupation. Tomorrow all the elected delegates should be at the Conference venue. Legally. Civilized. Ethics. Democracy will return to SYRIZA, no matter how dark it is if its detractors enlist,” he wrote in his related post.
Koumoundourou’s response to Kasselakis: “He is pointing the finger while he has already announced another party”
To all the above sources, Koumoundourou replied that St. Kasselakis “has the audacity and points the finger at SYRIZA” while “he does not accept the decisions of the collective bodies of the party, he does not recognize that he is not the president, he has made his own website falsifying the name of the party with the title “our own SYRIZA”, misleading membership register, other building’.
“Essentially” that is, as the same circles added, “he has announced another competing party”.
“SYRIZA-PS has proven that it is the most democratic party and this will be seen in the Congress, despite the plans to the contrary” it was clarified.
The rejection statement of Faradouris – The response of Famellos
The conference, of course, is not just an affair of two. It is a conference of political positions and dialogue. It concerns the future of SYRIZA and will announce candidacies for the presidential elections (24/11-1/12). It is inevitable that the contenders for the leadership will now be on opposite sides. At least to an extent.
It was evident from how Nikolas Faradouris reacted to the proposal of Sokratis Famellos for a meeting of the four presidential candidates, as they have been approved by the Central Committee and Political Secretariat.
According to the MEP who is returning to Athens tonight to be present at the conference, the proposal to establish a common front “is as divisive as that of S. Kasselakis”. He clarified in all directions that “I have no personal confrontation with the former president, I have politics. Enough with the invitations and fronts. We went.” And he condemned on the one hand “the separation of executives, members, friends, delegates into ‘lambs and goats'” and on the other hand “the midnight provocations, the leaks and the hair pulling in public view”.
Sokratis Famellos read the answer of Nikolas Faradouris, as he had addressed him personally. And he answered that “when our party is in danger and its Organs, its executives and its procedures are attacked every day, we all have to take initiatives to protect it”.
He pointed out meaningfully that “equal distances constitute a serious problem for the unity of the party and the Democracy”.
Polakis in Patras
At the same time, Pavlos Polakis, without staying out of the frame of confrontation, also continues his pre-election campaign.
The Chaniotis MP attempted to communicate the message “for an Honorable Greece” to Patras as well, describing a necessary, as he characterizes it, program of redistribution of wealth, establishment of a State of Law and national sovereignty.
During his visit to the capital of Achaia, P. Polakis gave a press conference at the offices of the Prefectural Committee, then had a live discussion with the party officials, met with city bodies (Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce of NW Peloponnese and Western Greece), spoke to Ionian TV and finally organized a meeting at a hotel .
On Thursday, he also visited the Belogiannis Museum in Amaliada.
Extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly
All this at the moment when the Political Secretariat meets again today at 17:30 to clarify a number of procedural matters and the recommendations of the competent Committees (Legalization of Conferences, KOES).
