SYRIZA: The Eurostat assessment confirms that the Mitsotakis policy is a brake – 2024-08-31 08:45:01

“Yet another piece of news, concerning the economic indicators of Greece compared to those of the rest of the European Union, confirms that the policy of the Mitsotakis government is a brake for the country”, emphasizes SYRIZA, citing the recent Eurostat assessment concerning the sector of Consumption and Production, which, as he notes, “shows that the government’s celebrations of alleged convergence with the E.U. are far from reality.”

At the same time, adds Koumoundourou, “these results raise very serious questions regarding the management of the Recovery Fund by the New Democracy government”.

More specifically, Eurostat recently published the evaluation results of the member states regarding the goal of Responsible Consumption and Production, SYRIZA reports, citing a report by in.

As he points out, “this is the twelfth of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have been established by the European Commission in the context of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations” and underlines that Greece, according to its announcements Eurostat, “falling short of key EU Sustainable Development goals”.

“This is why the government’s celebrations for the Recovery Fund are being watched”
“The connection between the Recovery Fund and the SDGs is not only about financing, but also about aligning the strategic plans for recovery and development with the global sustainability goals,” emphasizes SYRIZA.

And he explains how this alignment ensures that recovery efforts contribute positively to long-term global sustainability, stressing that “recovery must be green, inclusive and resilient.”

“All the above reveals that the government’s celebrations for the Recovery Fund are only for show. As it turns out, their only purpose is to distribute the funds to friends and ‘mothers’, not caring about the citizens and the future of the country. Will another opportunity be wasted?”, he concludes.
