However, on the way to the election of a new leadership in SYRIZA-PSthe top executives of the party claim that they are moving with the aim of having “the next day” in Koumoundourou, every hour that passes the intra-party gap between supporters and opponents of Stefanos Kasselakis and the politics he expresses is widening. The entire mechanism of SYRIZA-PS is on the move and is being consulted. At noon on Wednesday, October 30, the top collective body, the Political Secretariat, puts under its microscope important organizational issues ahead of the party’s extraordinary congress.
At the same time, in a climate of tension and with a raised wall of suspicion, between supporters and anti-sponsors, as Koumoundouros officials describe, general assemblies of SYRIZA-PS members are being held across the country in view of the elections on November 2 and 3, 2024 to nominate representatives of the upcoming of an extraordinary congress, which will lead to grassroots presidential elections in SYRIZA. As a leading official of Koumoundrourou says, “there is no mass participation in the assemblies – a sign of frustration or avoidance of participation in confrontational situations – but those who participate, both Kasselaki and anti-Kasselaki, go ready even to fight”.
The Kasselists do not accept the decision of the majority of the central committee which declared Stefanos Kasselakis deposed and rejected his candidacy on the charge of a substitute attitude and anti-party actions. The supporters of Kasselakis claim with their participation as delegates in the Extraordinary Congress which is set to be convened on November 8-9-10, 2024 to change the associations. What does this mean? That they seek to put on the table of the extraordinary conference the request that Kasselakis’ candidacy for the presidency of SYRIZA-PS not be excluded, and that he participate in the election from the grassroots. In fact, their goal is to convince the other delegates, even if they are vice-chancellors, to join this position “not for Stefanos Kasselakis but for democracy”, as the secretary of the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group recently pointed out in her public intervention -PS and member of the Political Secretariat Theodora Tzakri, close associate of Stefanos Kasselakis.
Thus, it matters who will be elected as delegates. It has already been determined how many members will be sent to the conference from each OM based on how many members out of the total registered members will participate in the organization ballots.
The measure for electing delegates in the representative elections to be held on November 2 and 3, 2024, is:
-1 to 40 since the participation of the members in the OM ballots will be 50% of the registered members of the OM.
-1 to 45 since the participation of the members in the OM ballots will be from 41% to 49% of the registered members of the OM.
-1 to 50 since the participation of the members in the OM ballot boxes will be from 31% to 40% of the registered members of the OM.
-1 to 55 since the participation of the members in the OM ballots will be from 20% to 30% of the registered members of the OM.
-1 to 60 if the participation of the members in the OM ballots will be below 20% of the registered members of the OM.

It would be interesting if at the meeting of the Political Secretariat aggregated and detailed data on new membership registrations would be presented.
As a top official of Koumoundourou pointed out in Documento, this will be done as soon as the SYRIZA organizing office has time to gather these data.
It is noteworthy that the members of the Central Committee, the deputies and MEPs who are not members of the K.E., the members of the K.S. of Youth, the members of the selection committee and the ethics committee participate ex officio as representatives in the conference. However, the deadline by which one must have become a member to have the right to vote in the pre-convention proceedings and the right to elect and be elected in the election for the nomination of representatives was October 25, 2024.
The draft decision of the extraordinary conference, as approved by the Central Committee of October 5, 2024 and the road map to the conference are at the center of the Political Secretariat and also of the meetings of the organizations.
According to all indications, the Political Secretariat will not change the plan set by the Central Committee for an extraordinary congress, as a consequence of the withdrawal of confidence in the president by the Central Committee. The “line” is that the exclusive object of the Extraordinary Congress is the approval of the nominations for the presidency and the text of the political decision, given that the Kasselakis candidacy has been “cut”. It seems that Apostolos Gletsos, Pavlos Polakis, Sokratis Famellos and Nikolas Farandouris will be announced as SYRIZA presidential candidates.
The Political Secretariat includes Rania Svigou (Secretary of SYRIZA-PS), Panagiota Arapi – Beloni, Olga
Gerovassili, Rena Dourou, Maggie Doussi, Kostas Zachariadis, Thanasis
Theocharopoulos, Zoe Karkoulia, Maria Kouveli, Katerina Notopoulou, Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulos, Konstantinos Panagiotopoulos, Nikos Pappas (chairman of the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group), Pavlos Polakis, Yannis Ragousis, Panos Rigas, Nikos Skorinis, Eleni Symeonidou a
Teligioridou, Theodora Tzakri, Alekos Flambouraris. In the Political Secretariat there are about five or six officials who are moving in the “line” to give the conference the possibility to judge the issue of the Kasselakis candidacy. On the other side, that of the 87+ who follow the majority of the Central Committee, are among others Olga Gerovasilis, Kostas Zachariadis, Thanasis Theocharopoulos, Zoe Karkoulia, Katerina Notopoulou, Yannis Ragousis.
Battle for the delegates
At the same time, discussions will be ongoing in Prefectural Committees and Member Organizations (OM) regarding the submission of delegate nominations and the procedures for holding the elections, such as members of electoral committees, setting the time and place of the elections for the selection of delegates . It is indicative that also on Wednesday October 30, a general assembly of the OM SYRIZA-PS Edipsos, the Prefectural Committee and the OM of the Prefecture of Thesprotia has been set, among others, where Yiannis Voulgarakis, member of the K.E. of SYRIZA-PS and organizational manager for the Prefecture of Thesprotia, Mr.
The information coming from 87+ officials is that in the regional member organizations the anti-Kasselakis are outnumbered, while in Attica the battle is ambiguous with the Kasselakis strengthened in places. The 87+ side (Crippers, singles, anti-Casselist), reckons they will have the upper hand in the conference.
However, no one excludes that unstable factors may arise. He worries about the possibility that the data will change unpredictably if, for example, there are accessions of scattered delegates in the logic that Stefanos Kasselakis should be allowed to go down for reasons of democratic order in the intra-party electoral field.
