SYRIZA: Mr. Mitsotakis showed arrogance and once again insulted the relatives of the victims of the crime of Tempe – 2024-04-26 12:53:57

SYRIZA-PS blames Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the “known arrogance of 41”, commenting on the interview the prime minister gave to the SKAI television station.

In its statement, SYRIZA states: “Mr. Mitsotakis spoke disparagingly of the leader of the Official Opposition and the proposals of SYRIZA-PS to combat accuracy, while the prime minister himself tried, on the orders of his highly paid communicators, to pretend that he understands that Greek households are being tested”.

He explained that he “unsuccessfully tried to justify himself for the vulgar characterization of ‘imported’ against Stefanos Kasselakis, stating that ‘it is good to avoid personal characterizations’.” A ‘self-criticism’ with delay and too much hypocrisy”.

He goes on to argue that “arrogance, on the other hand, cannot hide the awareness of the ongoing decay of the ND government. That is why Mr. Mitsotakis, setting the bar for the European elections at the point of the corresponding contest in 2019, when his party had recorded 33%, hastened from the outset to discount the great fall of the ND, compared to the national polls of last summer ».

He also accuses the prime minister that in the matter of dealing with the far-right he “stepped in two boats again: on the one hand he presented himself as an opponent of the ‘far-right apartment building’ and fascism, even though a few hours ago Takis Theodorikakos clearly answered ‘yes’ to the question whether ND wants the votes of those who supported the neo-Nazi ‘Spartans’. On the other hand, he is trying to turn a blind eye to the ‘right of the SW’ audience, indulging with big mouths in the right’s favorite sport, the trade in patriotism, border protection, order and security. And answering me half-heartedly about whether or not he himself wants these votes.”

It also refers to the answers given by the prime minister about Tempi and to be precise: “Faced with the anger of the society for the operation to cover up the crime of Tempi, he was forced to say that the Commission of Inquiry left a ‘bad taste’. However, he repeated the conspiracy theories, again insulting the relatives of the victims and those fighting for justice. Finally, while he acknowledged that ‘prices in the supermarket are 30% higher on average than they were three years ago’, he contented himself with tax-cutting generalities and refused to take up his government’s responsibilities, while the Greek state for 2022 and 2023 collected 4 billion euros more than what it had set as a goal”.

In closing, SYRIZA states: “If Mr. Mitsotakis is absolutely right about one thing, it is that all of the above will be decided by the citizens. They are the only ones who can send a resounding message on June 9 to pave the way for the progressive counter-offensive.”

The announcement of the Press Office of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance

“Once again, Mr. Mitsotakis demonstrated the well-known “arrogance of the 41%”. In his interview with SKAI (25.4.24), he spoke disparagingly of the Leader of the Official Opposition and the proposals of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance to fight accuracy, while the Prime Minister himself tried, by order of his highly paid communicators, to pretend to understand that Greek households are being tested.

He tried unsuccessfully to justify himself for the vulgar characterization of “imported” against Stefanos Kasselakis, stating that “it is good to avoid personal characterizations”. A “self-criticism” with delay and too much hypocrisy.

Arrogance, on the other hand, cannot hide the realization of the ongoing deterioration of the ND government. That is why Mr. Mitsotakis, setting the bar for the European elections at the point of the corresponding contest in 2019, when his party had recorded 33%, hastened from the outset to discount the great fall of the ND, compared to the national polls of last summer .

Faced with the electoral failure, he once again stepped into two boats: on the one hand, he presented himself as an opponent of the “extreme right-wing apartment building” and fascism, although a few hours ago Takis Theodorikakos clearly answered “yes” to the question of whether the ND wants the votes of those who they supported the neo-Nazi “Spartans”. On the other hand, he is trying to turn a blind eye to the “right-wing” audiences, indulging with big mouths in the right’s favorite sport, the trade in patriotism, border protection, order and security. And answering half-heartedly about whether or not he himself wants these votes.

Faced with public outrage over the Tempe crime cover-up, he was forced to rant that the Commission of Inquiry had left a “bad taste”. However, he repeated the conspiracy theories, again insulting the relatives of the victims and those fighting for justice.

Finally, while he acknowledged that “prices in the supermarket are 30% higher on average than they were three years ago”, he contented himself with tax-cutting generalities and refused to take up his government’s responsibilities, while the Greek state for 2022 and 2023 collected 4 billion euros more than what it had set as a target.

If Mr. Mitsotakis is absolutely right about one thing, it is that all of the above will be judged by the citizens. They are the only ones who can send a resounding message on June 9 to pave the way for the progressive counter-offensive.”
