The conflict attempted by SYRIZA with the government, personified by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, is a frontal one.
As Koumoundourou stated in her announcement, “Mr. Mitsotakis who was afraid to face the official opposition in the Parliament and who guiltily slipped out of the Plenary:
- It is the same Mitsotakis who continues to support the Huntist Gonzo on the right-wing Foufopoulos ballot for the elections to the Athens Chamber of Commerce.
- He is the one who watched Stiga’s entire speech yesterday, because apparently for him the Spartans are not a danger to the State.
- He is the one who extends a hand of friendship and expects a helping hand from the far-right members of the Parliament, Spartans and independents, to control – at the Conference of Presidents – the composition of the Independent Authorities”.
The official opposition party concluded that “this Mitsotakis” of the three quotes above “cannot escape vulgarity and reality”.
“Misotakis’ artificial tension is a lifeline”
According to the press representative of SYRIZA, Pausanias Papageorgiou, the attitude of the prime minister while Nikos Pappas was on the floor of the Parliament “not only does it not make sense, but as long as an argument or a gossip is used in stages and levels higher and higher, reaching at the level of political leaders in the Parliament, and to be mouthed off by the prime minister himself, loses any substance, even gossip”.
“When you cannot respond to politics, then you respond to politics. And what the Greek prime minister ended up doing in terms of behavior and position in the Parliament was anti-institutional. And in order for him to do it, he goes to say that he had no other way out in the face of the issues that were being discussed with the millions of acres burned,” Mr. Papageorgiou also emphasized in his interview with Kokkino Thessaloniki.
He claimed that “the only lifeline he could find was to create an artificial tension, which of course he would use, just as he did for his internal dialogue within his own party.”
As the SYRIZA press representative concluded about Mr. Mitsotakis, “unfortunately, he has chosen Greek society as an opponent. He has chosen as his adversary those who are low-paid, those for whom he did not care at all. If we take yesterday’s discussion, we understand that he has chosen everyone as an opponent, even the environment itself.
When you let things end in the sea the same way you let the fire reach the sea and just try to evacuate everything, that’s the same way you’re going to work in the economy, so your opponents are a given.”
