SYRIZA: Lies and risk-taking by Mitsotakis for the proposal of a law against accuracy – 2024-05-12 20:06:21

“The SYRIZA-PS in the proposed law it submitted refers to the extraordinary contribution of surplus profits and not of profits in general” says the official opposition on the occasion of the Mitsotakis interview with ET.

Full announcement:

With lies and unabashed risk-taking, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis is trying to cover up his government’s embarrassment in the face of the Law proposal submitted by SYRIZA PS with absolutely documented and costed proposals to deal with accuracy and profiteering.

In his interview with ET, he goes so far as to claim that if the SYRIZA PS proposal to impose an extraordinary levy of 90% on bank profits is implemented, then the banks will be closed! Indeed, in order to convince of his claim, he consciously distorts the proposal of the official opposition and talks about taxation of 90% of their profits in general.

Mr. Mitsotakis, who, as he has proven in the last five years, does not care about the citizens but only about serving the interests of his few and elite, consciously misleads Greek society by wreaking havoc.

What is the truth; SYRIZA-PS, in the proposed law it submitted, refers to the extraordinary contribution of surplus profits and not of profits in general, and more specifically:

Enact an extraordinary levy of 90% on banks’ excess profits in 2023 resulting from the difference between the deposit and lending rates of Greek banks in relation to the average of EU banks.

We call on Mr. Mitsotakis who has left the Greek citizens helpless in front of the supermarket shelves because of the uncontrollable accuracy to at least be more serious when he talks about the bankruptcy of Greece as the New Democracy party is responsible for it with the record deficit of 15.4% for 2009.
