The proposal for the release of the election of the Central Committee from the election of the president of SYRIZA, which the wing of Stefanos Kasselakis had denounced a fortnight ago as a replacement, has returned to the table.
In his speech to the KE the rapporteur Dimitris Chatzisokratis claimed:
- In paragraph 2 of the proposal of the Political Secretariat, remove the words: and a new Central Committee.
- Two paragraphs before the end to add the paragraph: the election for the new K.E. it will take place on January 19, 2025
He justified his proposal by saying:
1. The Extraordinary Congress of SYRIZA-PS takes place after the censure of K.E. to the former, now, president Steph. Kasselakis. This is mandatory by statute.
There is no criticism of K.E. So the KE, which has been elected for a 3-year term in May 2022, can continue to exist until the expiration of its mandate. .
It does not appear from anywhere that the election of the president also entails the election of K.E.
After all, we, as KE, 15 months ago decided to elect a president WITHOUT the simultaneous election of KE. Why? Because we thought that the most important thing was the election of the president.
Yes, but things were different! It was after the resignation of the president! Huh! and; Now it is after impeachment of the President! Yes, but the conference was Lasting. No emergency! Who decided this? The KE! Why? Because this is how he considered that the needs of the party are served at the given moment
2. It would not be convenient and appropriate for the course of the party to elect the members of the K.E. only based on or overdetermined by their attitude towards the main issue that will concern the EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS, the selection of the President.
We also need executives who will have competence, political speech, hard work, connection with society and movements, etc. Etc. Why, in a party that seeks to be inclusive, deprive them?
3. From now on we can plan the election for the new K.E. on January 19, 2025! To have the time to think, soberly, how exactly we will elect the members of the K.E. Will we proceed, as in 2022 or in other ways, which have already been proposed in the dialogue in the last period?
