Yesterday it became known that Stefanos Kasselakis is definitively abandoning the idea of leaving politics. Now there are two scenarios. Either to claim his re-election, or to build a new political entity.
From Spetses, where he has been for the last 24 hours, he spoke to his close associates and called them to be ready. In fact, communications were also made with supporters of Kasselakis in prefectural committees and member organizations, which perhaps largely shows his intentions.
“This is a substitute decision”, which “causes the disgust and indignation of the thousands of party members” stated a resolution of the prefectural 1st Athens last night. She is the same prefect who in her announcement requested that Stefanos Kasselakis be given the seat of Othona Iliopoulos…
One could reasonably assume that the resolution is the result of Kasselakis’s actions… Probably other similar announcements will follow.
“Mr. Kasselakis has not participated in the leak to create a new party. I am in a position to know… It will be placed in the members. I will be by his side to become president of SYRIZA again” Theodora Tzakri said in the morning and continued: “A small body, the KE with 300 members, decided to cancel the decision of the 150,000 members who voted last year. This is absurd for a statute to provide for it.”

Theofilos Xanthopoulos argued that the decision on the impeachment must be ratified by the Congress and that until then Kasselakis must remain president.
“We have a president, Stefanos Kasselakis, he must go to his office tomorrow, read the statute” Elena Akrita told Action24 and expressed her support if he stands again as a candidate for party president.

On Thursday, the Political Secretariat characterized the decisions and the process through which the motion of censure against Stefanos Kasselakis was voted as “democratically adopted and based on the party’s statute”.
“When you are called to call an election and you answer “censure me as the statute states”, then you accept that this is the procedure, that if it passes you will be removed from office and elections will be called” asserted the Pavlos Polakis and continued: “If you’re looking for a new party, you measure it and it doesn’t work out, and you see that lionizations of the type “find an opponent and let’s go” again lead to defeat, then you talk about hoods, bring out constitutionalists and talk about congresses that will decide again” .
“The secret vote was a decision of the House, absolutely respected. And in retrospect there can be no question as to the procedure followed. It was an impeccable and completely democratic process,” the secretary of the party, Rania Svigou, had said earlier.
“In 2022, we decided that the Central Committee should also be elected from the grassroots, so that it has strong political legitimacy in the control of the president and of course in the possibility of censuring him,” says Stergios Kalpakis.
