The decision by Kasselakis to ask the identity questions of the party (political direction, name, logo, etc.) through a questionnaire has caused a rift within SYRIZA. There are two different lines on the matter.
Others argue that Kasselakis’ move was correct and that only with groundbreaking cuts can the party change.
On the other hand, others believe that such issues should be raised in consultation and after they have first been discussed in the party bodies.
Indicative were the positions of various officials in the morning broadcasts, shortly before the meeting of the Political Secretariat.
“Alexis Tsipras himself had said that it is an immediate priority for SYRIZA to be re-established,” MP Nina Kasimati said at Open, defending Stefanos Kasselakis’ move to ask the questionnaire.
Thanasis Theocharopoulos expressed his disagreement with the questionnaire. As he told MEGA, “parties are not companies and such issues are opened in a certain way” adding that “the instruments and statutes of SYRIZA cannot be ignored”.
“At some point there is no going back, it’s the last chance we say…” said Christos Giannoulis to SKAI and added:
“You can ask these questions in a democratic dialogue, but you have to think inside SYRIZA, the pained and hurt by all this, which often becomes the hair of the hair. You have to predict the time, the occasion and the moment you do it,” he noted.
