SYRIZA: Horrible reality of an undermining NHS – Responsibilities to Adonis Georgiadis – 2024-03-13 17:25:50

SYRIZA criticizes Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis’ anti-social policy of “serving” patients as they see fit.

“The minister found the tragedy an ideal opportunity to highlight his own positive role. The medicine came on his own initiative and he responded immediately when told. If they had contacted earlier, the medicine would have been found immediately. Perhaps the minister humbly expects a thank you for his efforts,” he writes in a statement.

And he adds: “People have nothing to expect if they don’t have acquaintances, money or luck. This is the horrible reality of a NHS that has been constantly undermined in recent years by the ND government, in order for the public sector to give way to the private and the market to overcome the health good guaranteed by the welfare state”.

The announcement of the Press Office of SYRIZA – PS

“The 72-year-old cancer patient from Crete, who ended his life in the face of the impasses that the ND government has been diligently building in the health sector in recent years, never had a single treatment, as assured by his relative who, speaking to ” Talk Radio 98.9″, expressed his irritation at the attitude of the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis.

The testimonies of the relatives of the deceased leave no room for misinterpretation. More than two months passed from the initial diagnosis of aggressive lung cancer until the necessary PET SCAN examination was performed. Then the necessary drug was not found, its administration is required to start chemotherapy. Searching for the drug from the family, with postponements and cancellations, the cancer patient was finally led to a dead end.

On the other hand, the competent minister, Adonis Georgiadis, although he tried to avoid the controversial issues, did not succeed. For the minister, waiting for the PET SCAN is a given. As for the lack of medicine, for the next step, the minister found the tragedy an ideal opportunity to highlight his own positive role. The medicine came on his own initiative and he responded immediately when told. If they had contacted earlier, the medicine would have been found immediately. Perhaps the minister humbly expects a thank you for his efforts.

But the world has nothing to expect if it has no acquaintances, money, or fortune. This is the horrible reality of a NHS that has been constantly undermined in recent years by the ND government, in order for the public sector to give way to the private and the market to overcome the health good guaranteed by the social state.

Out there, however, are thousands of patients who have encountered the postponements, delays and impasses of government policy. There are thousands of health workers, doctors and nurses who are also facing growing impasses. And the public health system is shrinking and being undermined in new ways. This situation must come to an end. SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance will fight for a strong public health system, a real relief for the people who need it.”
