SYRIZA speaks of “the existence of a huge scandal” on the occasion of the leak of personal data from the Ministry of the Interior to the ND and the Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou. From the official opposition, they emphasize that the general secretary of the ministry and the secretary of the Hellenic expatriate sector of the ND “will be faced with criminal offences”.
They also recall the case of Smyrlis, who, after resigning from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to a predator, was promoted to general manager of the ND and stress that the party will “see to the disclosure of all the elements of yet another scandal of the Mitsotakis administration that raises issues of volatility of elections”.
Earlier, Mr SYRIZA he described the ministry as a “next-door friend of the ND” and spoke of “agreed manipulations” with which “the New Democracy is trying to “fix” the communication issue”.

“The government’s confession that the Ministry of the Interior handed over thousands of emails with personal data to New Democracy and then to its MEP, Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou, confirms the existence of a huge scandal, the aspects of which have not yet been revealed in depth.
It is obvious that both the secretary general of the Ministry of the Interior, who was forced to resign, and the secretary of the expatriate Hellenism sector of the New Republic who received personal data of Greeks abroad and “utilized” it by handing it over at least to Mrs. Asimakopoulou (who knows where else) will face criminal offences.
Maximou must deliver the findings of the investigation it carried out according to Mr. Mitsotakis’ statement to the competent Authority for Personal Data Protection and at the same time make them public.
The trail of classified election-related information from the Ministry of the Interior to the party apparatus of the New Democracy has an obvious connecting link, and everyone can understand who it is.
