The fight against SYRIZA between Stefanos Kasselakis and the “87”, the so-called intra-party opposition, takes on the characteristics of a civil war.
Although the two sides have been at knifepoint for several weeks, in the last 24 hours the confrontation has escalated rapidly, especially after yesterday’s meeting of the Political Secretariat.
“We are unable to follow the confusion in which he is, since once again he raised the issue of leadership alone, through evening posts, while a few hours earlier, at the meeting of the General Assembly, when everything was said, he declared that he is not picking up the gauntlet” said sources of “87” for the president of SYRIZA in the early hours of Friday.
He had preceded by a lengthy post by Stefanos Kasselakiswho had provoked the “87” to make a proposal of censure, while for Pavlos Polakis he kept a particularly low tone.
Yesterday, Mr the president of SYRIZA accused them of talking about him the way ND would talkthat they did not “put their hands in their pockets” to pay the employees of Avgi and Kokkinos and that they did not stand next to the fire victims, as he himself did.
“There is an organized plan: The daily humiliation of SYRIZA as the Congress, so that no one is left […] and SYRIZA completely discredited to liquidate into a nebulous “Centre-Left” with a “savior” chosen by Diaploki” he emphasized among other things and challenged them – indirectly but clearly – for the second consecutive day, to proceed with censure.
“SYRIZA is humiliated every day by Stefanos Kasselakis, who thrives on making internal enemies,” retorted sources of “87” and added: “We will not follow him down the slope, in hiding financial data and in populism. He can continue arguing on his own. Panic is a bad counselor.”
“The 8 did not contribute”
Koumoundourou leaked yesterday morning that none of the 8 members of the Political Secretariat belonging to the “87” (Gerovasilis, Flambouraris, Zachariadis, Ragousis, Theocharopoulos, Karkoulias, Symeonidou and Notopoulos) responded to Kasselakis’ call to lend what they can for to pay the workers in the party Media.
“Amounts according to their capabilities, apart from the president himself, were given by Rena Dourou, Nikos Pappas, Theodora Tzakri, Olympia Teligioridou, Panos Rigas, Nikos Skorinis, Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou and Panagiota Arapi Beloni, so that to pay part of the accruals of the Media workers of the party” said sources close to the president.
“The payroll of the workers it cannot depend on anyone’s voluntary appetites. After all, the left has a specific view on charities and individual responsibility. After all, the era of endowment booklets for needy girls has fortunately passed forever and belonged to the logic of another faction” wrote Zoi Karkoulia on Facebook, responding to the above.
The next day
It seems that the gap between the two sides is now unbridgeable. We are literally talking about outsiders within the same party. The information says that the “87” are expected to meet immediately, perhaps even today, but certainly within the next few days with expanded participation.
“After the latest developments, even those who were hesitant seem to be convinced that the motion of censure is a one-way street,” said yesterday to documentonews.gr a prominent member of the internal party opposition, who from the beginning was in favor of … drastic solutions, even when some of the “87” took a more moderate stance.
Based on the current data, it will be a big surprise if the “87” of the Central Committee (who claim that they are now more than 110) do not officially challenge Stefanos Kasselakis in the Central Committee. Right now, the only holding back seems to be the name of the candidate they will nominate and of course support.
Polakis
For his part, Pavlos Polakis – who speaks exclusively on Sunday’s Documento – insists that he is not going to back down.
In fact, the executives of the Central Committee who are close to him are believed to support a possible motion of the “87” for censure, even though the Polakis side also has almost hostile relations with them.
Of course, for reasons of impression, the “Poles” may be the first to take the initiative for censure and force the “87” to support it, but this is not the case. The only thing that is certain is that the Cretan MP declares that he is determined to see it through to the end.
The case of Linou
184 members of SYRIZA (among them 10 members of the Central Committee) who support Pavlos Polakis ask the Ethics Committee of the party to call Athina Linou “immediately and as a matter of priority” so that she “can convincingly explain whether or not the allegations against her”.
Yesterday, Athina Linou claimed that she sent 459 pages of financial data of the Prolepsis Institute to the office of Stefanos Kasselakis and revealed her intention to appeal to Justice “for the sole purpose of restoring the truth”, while leaving clear points against the former if. Minister of Health.
For his part, Stefanos Kasselakis has said that he is personally investigating the matter and that he will decide “soberly” when he has the complete information.
Another story that is expected to occupy the world of SYRIZA in the near future…
