SYRIZA: Famellos requests that the play “18/9” for P. Fyssas enter schools –

Sokratis Famellos submitted a proposal requesting that the show “18/9” starring Dora Chrysikou be presented in all the schools of the country in a letter to the relevant Ministries of Education and Culture.

The Member of Parliament B’ Thessaloniki and candidate for president of SYRIZA attended (as did Nikolas Farandouris) on Sunday the monologue of the popular actress at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation and, impressed by the content, structure and interpretation, addressed the Minister of Education, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, asking them to undertake the relevant initiatives.

The show deals with the murder of Pavlos Fyssas by the criminal organization Golden Dawn.

According to Mr. Famellos, “this performance is not just a reminder of the tragic event, but is the voice of our conscience for the value of life, justice and democracy, but also the importance of the role of the active citizen” as he pointed out in his letter.

For these reasons he explained that “it is a unique opportunity for our children, our students, to participate in a cultural and educational dialogue about the values that should govern our democracy and society”.

The notebook of Pavlos Fyssa

Inspiration for the creation of the show was a notebook that Magda Fyssa gave to Dora Chrisikou one day at the Court of Appeal.

The actress related to Vima: “One day at the Court of Appeal, one of those endless days, Mrs. Magda gave me a notebook with the image of Pavlos on the cover, which read: 6 years, take it easy don’t be afraid.

We have a very dear mutual friend, the great lawyer Maria Parenti, whom I met through the movements – I have met perhaps the greatest people of my life in the area of solidarity, giving and struggle. She had just given birth to her daughter and could not come.

Mrs. Magda gave me a notebook for Maria as well. “To write Paul’s story and one day tell it to her daughter,” she told me. I understood that the whole concern is not to forget our people. So that we don’t forget and so that the next generation learns.”

Since then, as the actress explained, “it entered as information in the black box of my mind and slowly began to be worked on. I decided that since I deal with trauma, grief and loss through art, I would like to put on a show. Seven years passed before we realized it. Even today I still can’t believe we made it.”
