SYRIZA conference: Kasselakis and MPs in the crosshairs – “To rethink” –

Gletsos, Polakis, Famellos and Faradouris spoke for the second time at the extraordinary conference of SYRIZA, attacking Stefanos Kasselakis who a short time before, at noon on Saturday, had announced the establishment of a new party. The president of KO, Nikos Pappas, also took to the stage.

The four presidential candidates of SYRIZA took the floor in alphabetical order.

Gletsos: Kasselakis is on the last step of humiliation

Apostolos Gletsos initially stated in his defense of the former president of SYRIZA: “Mr. Kasselakis has reached the last step of his humiliation. The stigma will remain with us because we made him leader. But we will try to throw it over us.”

He also emphasized that “they sent people to break up the conference. So low,” but, as he pointed out, “it’s a thing of the past. We don’t have to say anything about him anymore.”

Rep. Gletsos then asserted that “Misotakis’ life will be very difficult for him. It is enough from tomorrow when you return to your base to do a lot of work to win back the people we lost because of Kasselakis. We need to get people to the polls to realize the vision for a better life.”

Polakis: The one who proposes independence to them may soon be out of Greece

Immediately after, Pavlos Polakis took the stage. The Chanioti MP emphasized: “Things are clear. The attempt to transform SYRIZA failed. Yesterday, we all experienced the show of depositing signatures that received the caustic response of the president Yannis Mantzouranis that the majorities are judged by the votes. As soon as they saw that they were not getting it, they left and founded a new party. Mr. Kasselakis saw that he cannot control our party. The plan for a 5% SYRIZA failed miserably.”

That is why he called on “those who declared that they will leave to think again. And those who are thinking about it should not do it, because the person who suggests it to them may soon be out of Greece”.

Famous: SYRIZA is here, there was a Trojan Horse inside

Next came Sokratis Famellos. The Second Thessaloniki Member of Parliament emphasized in the first phase: “We gave a dynamic response to the necessity of SYRIZA, that SYRIZA continues to appeal to Greek society. It turned out that everything going around this conference was fake news. We made it clear that we are back in politics

He acknowledged that “concerns were expressed and mistakes were clarified” and that “it was decided to become a functioning party again”. “We will not wait for the election of a new president for this. From Monday we will be in the local communities” Sokr asserted. Famous.

He claimed at the same time that “the plan to eradicate SYRIZA has been confirmed. But SYRIZA is here and it is not over, because it is deeply rooted in Greek society.”

“You cannot erase the history of the Left. They laughed at you” he said in high tones.

“It didn’t appear inside SYRIZA, it appeared outside SYRIZA” the dissolution plan continued Mr. Famellos, explaining that “the system is targeting SYRIZA. We are a nuisance to the system. There was a Trojan Horse within SYRIZA. The congress defended democracy.”

“Will they come to talk to us about democracy?” he wondered and answered in the negative, as “the guards have knowledge”.

“There is a conspiracy plan to erode the prestige of SYRIZA. The entanglement has aimed for SYRIZA to lose the position of official opposition. The popular mandate is for SYRIZA to be the country’s official opposition. They accuse us of a plan to liquidate SYRIZA, but they were exposed. It was a Trump process, but they didn’t pass. We all answered together” concluded the Thessaloniki politician.

Farandouris: Those who leave have no excuse

The circle was closed by Nikolas Farandouris. The SYRIZA MEP pointed out for his part: “Let’s inform our parliamentary friends that history will not be with them. SYRIZA is their home.”

“It seems that the preparatory actions for what is rapidly developing were there. That’s why there is no excuse for those who left.”

“It doesn’t concern us, we were too busy” Mr. Farandouris pointed out about Stefanos Kasselakis, explaining that “we don’t need to get involved because the tank allows us to raise our stature and later our government program”.

“We do not renounce our values, but the program needs modernization” he then argued about his program, since “we all have in mind a new SYRIZA, free from distortions of the past but also with the sacrifice of decades in this place. This differentiates us and this makes us the vanguard of the progressive forces of the country”.

Nikos Pappas: Whoever has the majority does not do theatrics

The president of the SYRIZA parliamentary group, Nikos Pappas, emphasized: “These are moments that will remain etched in our memory for a long time. These few 24 hours proved the following: that there was a plan to break up the proceedings that went as far as yesterday’s methodical attempt to keep people out of the SYRIZA conference. Whoever has the majority does not make plays. And the result of the vote came yesterday to give a resounding message, but also to the Panhellenic people who are falsely and unilaterally informed about our party.

The most important of the victories we achieved was the victory against the furious attempt of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to consolidate a historical revisionism. Let the people forget who was the government that brought the world out of the memoranda. In the parties of the Left, in our party, there will be no uncontrollable powers.

I am absolutely sure that the work of the parliamentary group will continue. Those who take responsibility for depriving SYRIZA of the position of official opposition will forever bear a historical mark. To think again and not bet on ventures that are fatal. SYRIZA is, was and will be the protagonist of the progressive space”.
