A spokesman for the police in Bialystok states that the man was discovered by a police helicopter on Friday.
Documents found on the man indicate that he is a 24-year-old Syrian citizen, and that he arrived in Belarus in mid-September, spokesman Tomasz Krupa told Al Jazeera.
According to the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, at least ten other people have been found dead in the border area since August.
Thousands
Belarus’s President Alexander Lukashenko has been accused by Poland and others of sending refugees and migrants to the borders with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, in retaliation for EU sanctions against his regime.
According to Polish authorities, more than 10,000 people have tried to cross the border illegally since August, 6,700 in November alone.
Poland has sent 15,000 troops to the border area to prevent more from taking over, but some succeed.
1,500 are now in guarded reception centers in Poland, where they will have the opportunity to apply for asylum.
