Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has received an official invitation from Saudi Arabia to participate in the Arab summit to be held in Jeddah at the end of next week, according to the Syrian news agency “SANA” on Wednesday.
Syria returned to the Arab League after years of estrangement since 2011, when the Arab foreign ministers agreed in an extraordinary meeting, on May 7th For her to return to her seat, but it is not a decision to establish normal relations between the Arab countries and Damascus. Rather, this matter is a sovereign decision between each Arab country and Syria separately.
Al-Assad, who received the invitation from the Saudi ambassador to Jordan, Nayef Al-Sudairi, said, “The upcoming Arab summit in Saudi Arabia will enhance joint Arab action to achieve the aspirations of the Arab peoples,” according to the agency.
