One of the Syrian brothers arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of preparing a terrorist crime was released. According to the Public Prosecutor (OM), there is no indication that the man was involved in any crime. His younger brother is still in custody.
The two, a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old Syrian, were arrested on Wednesday evening in Stein, Limburg. The OM did so after information from the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD). The brothers’ home was also searched, but no weapons or explosives were found.
The 22-year-old man is no longer suspected of preparing a terrorist crime. Yes, his twenty-year-old brother. On Saturday he will be presented before the investigating judge.
It is unclear who exactly the suspects were. As men were subject to full restrictions, the OM declined to provide any further information on this.
