Syria considers safe return of refugees a priority

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad confirmed during his meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi that the safe return of refugees is a priority for the State.

The President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, exchanged with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, about “bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to improve them.”

They also discussed “the issue of the return of Syrian refugees” and examined “the current situation and serious developments in the region.”

The minister pointed out that Jordan is making every possible effort for the return of Syrian refugees.

Likewise, he ratified the his country’s support for the stability and recovery of Syria for the good of the region.

Previously, Al-Safadi met with his Syrian counterpart, Bassam Sabbagh. The two held extensive talks focused on efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis and the refugee issue.

They also discussed the fight against drug smuggling, as well as the dangerous escalation of hostilities in the region and efforts to put an end to it, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Safadi’s visit to Syria is his third since February 2023, having made his second visit in July of the same year.

On October 3, Safadi made a phone call with Syrian Vice President Faisal Al-Miqdad. They discussed efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis in a way that preserves the unity of the nation, restores its stability and creates conditions for the voluntary return of refugees.
