Syrenki i Warszawy: I will say sentimental of youth

Young in spirit and often in appearance. Although a bit old, it is beautiful and neat, well-groomed, refined like a spring breeze of life. These are the Mermaids and Warsaw, the vehicles of our grandparents, grandmothers, uncles and aunts.

Is 1 May not the most appropriate holiday to organize a rally of these wonderful cars? Don’t we associate them with the Polish People’s Republic, with the years of youth, joy and carefree? Yes of course! All the more, the picnic welcomed such guests in our region with a favorable eye.

On Sunday, the owners of Syrena and Warsaw, along with other historic vehicles, visited Stalowa Wola as part of the National Mermaid Rally and Warsaw organized by Automobilklub Stalowa Wola, combined with the Start of the Vintage Vehicles Season. Those who came up with this idea have already made similar meetings. They drove their cars all over Europe. They were in Paris, Berlin, Minsk and Lviv. This year, they gave us the opportunity to please our eyes with these gems. They chose Ulanów as the seat of the rally.

One of the reasons for choosing this place was, among others a dynamically operating Section of Historic Vehicles at Automobilklub Stalowa Wola, where there is no shortage of Sirens and Warsaw, and one of the most interesting examples of vehicles is the prototype Syrena made of a plastic body, which was owned by the Chief Designer of FSO, and also the Chief Constructor of the Syrena car! The vehicle has won numerous awards and distinctions in historic vehicle events, incl. the title of Automobile of the Year 2021 awarded by the Main Committee of Historic Vehicles PZM. We could admire the Laminate mermaid in nationwide television programs, incl. Teleexpress and the TVN Turbo Report, the Polish automotive press – Classicauto. She also appeared on YouTube channels – Motobieda, Treasury of the Nation and, of course, on Jan Garbacz, a steel worker. The Syrena was also present on May 1 at the Municipal Cultural Center in Stalowa Wola, where the Sirens Rally and Warsaw began at 11:00 a.m., and the season for the owners of other classic vehicles – cars and motorbikes – started. As part of this event, there will be a presentation of vehicles at the MDK in Stalowa Wola by youtuber Jan Garbacz, a selection of the most beautiful Sirens and Warsaw, an off-road game for owners of historic vehicles running through the most interesting places related to the COP, among others building of the former HSW management, Hutnik hotel, villas of a clerical colony. At 3:00 p.m. there will be a parade of historic vehicles along the streets of Stalowa Wola, after which the Sirens’ cavalcade and Warsaw will go to Bieliniec, to the Museum of Special Vehicles.
