BANJARMASINPOST.CO.ID, BANJARBARU – One person who often carried out activities at the former Pembatuan Localization, Landasan Ulin Timur Village, Landasan Ulin District, Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) was detected with Syphilis.
The woman was detected to have been exposed to this type of venereal disease during an examination by the Banjarbaru City Health Service (Dinkes) team some time ago.
As explained by Banjarbaru Health Office Epidemiologist, Edi Sampana, Monday (16/10/2023), the person concerned was asked to immediately undergo treatment at the community health center.

“In yesterday’s health examination, it was found that one woman had syphilis,” he said, Monday (16/10/2023).
Edy revealed that during this year his party had carried out three health checks, at the former Pembatuan Localization.
The examination had been on hiatus for the last two years, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“During three Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) examinations in Pembatuan, we tested a total of 52 people,” said Edy.
He admitted that this figure cannot be used as a benchmark that petrification is sterile from STDs.
Because according to him, there is a possibility that Commercial Sex Workers (PSK) in that location will check into a clinic or doctor’s practice independently.

“So, this cannot be used as a benchmark so we have to remain vigilant, especially since we haven’t carried out an inspection for a long time,” he added.
He emphasized that the PMS examination was not a form of the Banjarbaru City Government legalizing prostitution activities in the former Pembatuan Localization.
Rather, it is an effort to detect, to prevent the spread of STDs in the community.

“Because, even though there is a prohibition in regulations, in fact this prostitution activity is still ongoing,” he concluded.
