Syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease, surges Next month to set up a free test site Tokyo | NHK

Syphilis is a bacterial infection that is spread primarily through sexual contact and can be treated with drugs, but can cause serious symptoms if left untreated.

Last year, the number of confirmed syphilis infections in Tokyo reached a record high of 3,677 for both men and women, about 12 times more than 10 years ago, and the number of infected people is rapidly increasing.

For this reason, the city has decided to set up free inspection venues in four locations in Tokyo next month.

in particular
▽ From 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm on the 3rd at “Tokyo Health Plaza Hygeia” in Shinjuku Ward
▽ From 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm on the 7th at the Sumida Industrial Hall in Sumida Ward
▽ On the 11th, at the “Tachikawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry” in Tachikawa City from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm
▽ On the 16th, the inspection will be available at “Parthenon Tama” in Tama City from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Of these, the inspection in Shinjuku on the 3rd is only accepted for women.

To take the test, you need to make a reservation in advance via the internet or phone, but you do not need to provide your name or address, and you will be able to know the results on the day of the test.

The city is calling on people who are worried to get tested for early detection and treatment.
