Synchron becomes the first company in the United States to implant a brain-machine interface in a human being

Neuralink picked up speed. The startup Synchronous officially became the first company in the United States to implant a human-machine interface in the brain of a human being. Doctors from Mount Sinai West (New York) performed the surgical operation which consisted of implanting a Stentrode of the society Synchronous in a patient’s motor cortex. This trial, called COMMAND, will assess the relevance of this type of “brain-machine” control interface, a kind of “hands-free kit” allowing different types of devices to be controlled remotely. This technology worthy of a SF movie promises to change the lives of people with partial or near total paralysis.

Everything went well, and the patient was able to go home 48 hours after the operation. It is not certain thatElon Musk, which is above all attached to its status as a tech pioneer, really tasted this great first. As a reminder, Neuralink, the company founded by Musk, is still awaiting FDA clearance to implant its own brain-machine interface in a human being.
