Symptoms of Severe or Mild Covid-19 Depending on Body Condition

JAKARTA, AYOBANDUNG.COM – The condition of a person’s body when first infected COVID-19 will determine how severe the symptoms will be. Is classified as light or heavy.

According to the pulmonary doctor of the Friendship Hospital (RS), Andika Chandra Putra, for someone who has a fairly good immune system, the symptoms that will appear if exposed COVID-19 likely to be mild to no symptoms at all. However, in someone whose immune system is weak or in someone who is elderly, or also has comorbid diseases, exposure COVID-19 will tend to produce more severe symptoms.

“So we know there are 7 important organs in our body, there are lungs, heart, kidney, liver, and brain. When it does attack one of these organs, it can cause serious complaints,” said Andika, Monday (5/10).

Therefore, in someone who already has comorbidities, such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and obesity, symptoms that arise due to exposure COVID-19 will tend to be heavier than in people who do not have comorbidities. Likewise in someone who is elderly.

“So if it is known that the age is over 45 years or over 40 years, there are also comorbidities that we know, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, if affected. COVID-19 mostly there are complaints, the complaints can be serious, “said Andika.

The mild, moderate to severe symptoms, said Andika, can be experienced according to how the body’s condition responds to exposure COVID-19 in three phases, namely in the initial phase of infection, the pulmonary phase or the disease phase entering the lung tract and the inflammatory phase. In the early phase of infection, the complaints experienced by sufferers are usually in the form of a cold, sore throat to aches.

If in that phase the body’s resistance is not strong enough to receive exposure, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is the cause COVID-19 will enter the next phase, namely the pulmomary phase or pulmonary phase. In this pulmonary phase, the SARS-CoV-2 virus has entered the lung tract so that it can cause the patient to experience pneumonia, coughing to shortness of breath.

The next phase, namely the inflammatory phase, will also occur if the patient’s immune system cannot withstand the attack of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In the inflammatory or inflammatory phase, the patient may experience systemic inflammation or the entire body is already inflamed.

“Only then was there a cytokine storm (ie an overreaction of the immune system), injury to the liver, kidneys and heart,” said Andika.
