The mutation of the corona virus B.1.1.7 which first appeared in the UK was reported to have been found in Indonesia. Here are some of the symptoms of the Covid-19 strain B.1.1.7 from the UK.
“There are several new variant strains of Covid-19, B.1.1.7 from England, then some from South Africa, and from Brazil,” said doctor and pulmonologist Eric Daniel Tenda from RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo to CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (3/3).
“This mutation causes deletion in some parts of the protein so that it is considered the risk transmission is more dangerous, more rapid.”
He added that this mutation caused the symptoms of Covid-19 strain B.1.1.7, which resulted in mild, moderate to severe symptoms.
“The symptoms are the same. The symptoms of Covid-19 strain B.1.1.7 have no specific difference from the pre-existing Covid-19. The only difference is that the virus spreads faster.”
“This new variant can cause mild to severe symptoms. Data for the end of January 2021 in the UK suggest there is a possible association between the new variant and increased mortality.”
“But there are also reports at the CDC that this new variant, which is more contagious but at least currently does not cause severe symptoms or an increased need for hospitalization or death.”
Eric disclosed, the symptoms of the Covid-19 strain B.1.1.7 are almost the same as those of the previous Covid-19 virus. Some of them are headache, fever, cough, loss of smell or anosmia, among others.
Quoting Huffington Post, in several swab tests in the UK on 15 November 2020 and 16 January 2021, the symptoms reported were Cough, sore throat, fatigue and muscle aches, fever. while those who experience anosmia are called less frequently.
“If you are found that you are infected with a mutated Covid-19 virus, you must test it in a laboratory such as in Eijkman,” he said.

“We need more data to learn about this new variant. This will really help the government to confirm the new strain and also its public health effectiveness.”

“Wear a mask, keep your distance, wash your hands properly in running water and not just hand rub, vaccines as soon as possible if the schedule is right, and health protocols must be implemented.”
